| performance | performance art 300121445 | exact | performance art Q213156 | exact | Not the performing arts. Both authorities carry that warning on the concept itself. |

| multidisciplinary | intermedia (concept) 300189701 | close | interdisciplinary arts Q104863444 | close | Neither authority carries “multidisciplinary practice” as an art-world facet. Both nearest concepts describe merging forms rather than a practitioner working across several. |
| writing | literature (general genre) 300417585 | broad | writing Q37260 | broad | Deliberately broad. Text-first works also carry a medium value — poetry, prose, essay, text — and those rows map far more precisely than this facet can. |
| research | research (function) 300054687 | broad | artistic research Q20827087 | close | AAT’s concept is research in general; Wikidata carries the art-world sense specifically, so the two differ in width on purpose. |

| museum | museums (institutions) 300312281 | exact | museum Q33506 | exact | An institutional facet, not a practice — it marks what a profile IS. The building is aat:300005768. |
| gallery | art galleries (institutions) 300312243 | exact | art gallery Q1007870 | exact | Institutional, like museum. artlito records no venue type beyond this, which is why profile JSON-LD emits Organization and never ArtGallery. |

| artlito term | Getty AAT | match | Wikidata | match | note |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| silver gelatin print | gelatin silver prints 300128695 | exact | gelatin silver print Q64029133 | exact | Both authorities order the words the other way round — “gelatin silver”. artlito keeps the form photographers actually write. |
| c-print | chromogenic color prints 300236285 | exact | chromogenic print Q5113880 | exact | |
| archival pigment | pigment prints (digital inkjet) 300456818 | close | inkjet print Q130443678 | close | “Archival pigment” is a trade description rather than a controlled term. Do not confuse it with aat:300128234 “pigment prints (analog process)”, which is a different family entirely. |
| oil on linen | oil paint (paint) 300015050 | close | oil paint Q296955 | close | A compound of medium and support. The support is aat:300014069 “linen (material)” / wikidata:Q1426327. |

| mixed media | mixed media 300163347 | exact | mixed media Q1902763 | exact | AAT calls it an “information indicator” rather than a material — which is exactly why listing the actual materials alongside it serves a reader better. |
| installation view | exhibition installation photographs 300445638 | exact | exhibition installation photograph Q136095312 | exact | This value describes a documentation photograph, not an installation. The artwork itself would be aat:300047896. |
| sculpture | sculpture (visual works) 300047090 | exact | sculpture Q860861 | exact | |
| works on paper | works on paper 300189621 | exact | — | Wikidata has no concept for the collective category — every candidate returned is an exhibition of that name or an individual artwork. Left unmapped rather than forced. | |
| video | video art 300102067 | close | video Q98069877 | broad | As a MEDIUM the value names the carrier; as a discipline it maps differently — see the discipline row. |

| watercolour | watercolors (paintings) 300078925 | exact | watercolor painting Q18761202 | exact | The technique is aat:300389895; the paint is wikidata:Q3374389. |

| charcoal | charcoal drawings 300390908 | close | charcoal Q1424515 | close | The artlito value names the material, but on a work record it means the drawing. The material alone is aat:300012862. |
| ink on paper | ink 300015012 | close | ink Q127418 | close | A compound of medium and support; the resulting object sits under aat:300189621 “works on paper”. |

| textile | textiles (visual works) 300014063 | close | textile Q28823 | exact | AAT’s concept collects the finished works (carpets, fabrics, costume); as a work’s medium the value means the material. The art form is aat:300386843. |
| digital | digital 300404196 | broad | digital art Q860372 | close | A catch-all value. AAT’s “digital” is an attribute of a device or work, not an art form — which is the honest reading of what this medium records. |
| sound | sound recordings 300028633 | close | sound art Q1744327 | close | AAT’s concept is the carrier, Wikidata’s is the art form. The value spans both. |
| performance documentation | performance art 300121445 | broad | performance art Q213156 | broad | Neither authority carries a concept for the documentation of a performance. The documenting activity is aat:300054638 “documentation (activity)”; the pairing is the closest honest reading. |

Every identifier on this page was resolved against the live authority on 2026-08-06: Getty AAT by SPARQL against vocab.getty.edu, matching on the concept's preferred label and reading its English scope note before the row was written; Wikidata through the wbsearchentities API. The label shown in each cell is the authority's own preferred label, verbatim — so any row can be checked by following the link.
Most rows are not exact matches, and that is the useful part. artlito's vocabularies are working facets a member picks in a form; the authorities model concepts. Where artlito records a compound — "oil on canvas" is a medium and a support, "drawing & print" is two practices — no single authority concept means both, so the row is graded close and the note names the concept carrying the other half.
Two rows have no mapping at all on one side: "works on paper" has no Wikidata concept, and "prose" has none in AAT. They are left empty rather than filled with a near-miss, because a near-miss in a reference table is worse than a gap — a gap is honest and a reader can route around it.
Scope: disciplines and mediums only. Institutions are identified by ROR and Wikidata where a member has supplied them, and places by the geocoder rather than a GeoNames mapping — neither is a vocabulary artlito authors, so neither belongs in this table. The file is versioned; corrections bump the version and are dated here rather than applied silently.
Published CC0. It contains no member data and no creative expression worth reserving, and a crosswalk that cannot be freely reused is not a reference. Attribution is requested, not required.
